Mission Oral Health’s primary aim is to improve standards of oral health for everybody.
Our mission is two fold:
Provide focused Oral Health Education for staff in a range of health, social care and educational settings, focused on making the training enjoyable and relevant to the setting in question
Provide high quality dental nurse tutoring to help ensure the next generation of dental nurses are equipped to provide great quality care
Registered as a Dental Care Professional with the General Dental Council (124230)
I qualified as a dental nurse in 2001 at the University Dental Hospital, Cardiff. Over the years, I have built a strong foundation of expertise, gaining post-graduate qualifications in Oral Health Education, Radiography, Fluoride Varnish Application, a Diploma in Advanced Counselling and a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. My career has spanned NHS and private practices, community services in Somerset (where I served as a domiciliary lead) and the Oral Surgery Department at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. Alongside my clinical work, I have dedicated many years to teaching dental nursing, inspiring the next generation of professionals.
More recently, I have worked as a Project Facilitator, supporting schools and nurseries to deliver the Government’s Supervised Toothbrushing initiative in some of the most deprived areas. This programme has helped hundreds of thousands of children aged 3 to 5 develop positive brushing habits. In this role I provided oral health education across nurseries, schools, and community groups, with my work highlighted on BBC Points West and in several news articles.
My passion for oral health education stems from a belief that a healthy smile is a gateway to overall well-being, confidence, and quality of life. I am equally passionate about tutoring dental nurses, finding it rewarding to help others grow in confidence and skill, while strengthening the dental team and raising standards of care.
Outside my professional life, I enjoy playing badminton, cooking, spending time with my family and dog walks with my two miniature schnauzers. Recently I took to the stage in my first village panto, Rumpelstiltskin, playing Alexa and Captain Shelly!
